2020
Since 2020, Nomad Coliving has organized unofficial retreats in Okinawa, creating an exclusive opportunity for our community members to explore and enjoy this hidden gem together. We've been renting spacious properties with 5 to 6 rooms, perfectly accommodating our group's needs. These retreats not only provide a comfortable base for living together but also enhance our enjoyment by facilitating fun activities. During these retreats, colivers from Montreal and beyond gather to have fun, explore Okinawa’s stunning landscapes, and immerse themselves in the local culture. It's a time for adventure, relaxation, and mingling with locals, all within the convenience of a shared living space.
2022
Then, from 2022, Nomad Coliving has been actively engaging with the local government and community in Okinawa to forge partnerships that benefit both residents and visitors. We also collaborated with a local realtor to find a beach-side property that can be transformed into our next coliving space. This new location will offer a unique living experience that seamlessly integrates work, play, and community life. Committed to sustainability, innovation, affordability, and cultural sensitivity, Nomad Coliving is excited to embark on this new venture.
2023
In 2023, Nomad Coliving strengthened its bonds with key figures in the Japanese community, including both long-standing friends and new acquaintances met through active participation in the Japanese Digital Nomads Association. Maria represented Nomad Coliving at Colive Fukuoka, speaking about our initiatives and sharing the vision for a coliving space in Okinawa (here is a link for a discount is you want to join this year ;)). This exposure was crucial for broadening our network and seeking solid partnerships. The year concluded again with a visit to Okinawa by several Nomad Coliving members, reinforcing our commitment to establishing a genuine coliving community in this idyllic location.
2024
2024 is a landmark year for Nomad Coliving. In May, we were thrilled to welcome our first-ever Japanese guest at Nomad Coliving Montreal, an event that heralded a summer rich with visits from numerous other Japanese guests. Adding to the excitement, Nomad Cruise announced a voyage from Vancouver, Canada, to Yokohama, Japan. Maria and several colivers are set to embark on this grand journey, making a royal entrance into the country (And voilà, here's another promo code for the cruise!). Upon arrival, they will continue to Colive Fukuoka to reconnect with friends and colleagues.
The annual community trip to Okinawa, a staple of the Nomad Coliving experience, takes a more official turn this year. We are collaborating on a two-week retreat with the newly established Nomad Resort, which aims to offer a diverse array of services to nomads in Okinawa. Nomad Coliving supports this venture by helping promote this inaugural event internationally, scheduled from November 8th to the 21st. We hope this retreat will become an annual highlight for the digital nomad community in Asia, part of showcasing Fukuoka and Okinawa as premier destinations for nomads worldwide.​
