Only your clothes. The rooms, bathrooms and kitchen are fully equipped. You’ll find multiple groceries and stores at walking distance.
We are not equipped to welcome families at the moment.
Noco: It is not possible to accommodate pets due to possible allergies of the other coliving members.
Nico: We already have a dog on site, KOKO the coliving frenchie. She's a little rescue with a lot of character, and one is enough ;)
We have 2 internet providers to avoid drops. We continuously work on improving our internet connections. Our internet connections are good enough for your meetings, as well as playing video games. There is also internet in the rooms, however, the best connection is at the coworking space.
Yes, always, so you have the option to work from your room, from the coworking space or any other space in the house. Some colivers love to work from the garden when it's nice out there.
Everything you find in offices, such as printers, paper, staplers and a lot of office equipment.
We also have a few extra cords, mouses and monitors, but have to be shared between the people living in the house.
Note that you can rent a monitor for 30 CAD per month.
At Noco: there are 2 cooking stations, and it doesn't get too crowded as everyone cooks at different times of the day. Our members also usually enjoy the multiple local restaurants available from a walking distance or deliveries.
At Nico: at the moment, it's a little bit tight with only one kitchen, but we make the best of the situation by often offering each other to share our culinary experiments :)
People do their meals independently or, sometimes, group up to cook common meals. We eat together every Sunday evening. Each coliver has its own spot in the fridge and pantry to keep their produce fresh and organized.
At noco, the shared bathrooms are in fact semi private bathroom, so we allow only 2 colivers per bathroom and there is room to leave your stuff in it.
At Nico, we have 2 private and 4 communal bathrooms for the 10 rooms.
For laundry, don't worry, we have all in house laundry space and we even provide the detergent!
Unfortunately, we do not permit visits before the stay. Kindly note that we are not a room rental service, so we are expecting a coliver to come for the quality of the community and not the size of the rooms. We have worked hard on renovating the space and making it clean, pretty and optimized for remote workers. Although we get a lot of visit requests, we want to prioritize the privacy and quiet of the people living in the house. Feel free to check out our Instagram for a ton of pictures and testimonials of the space.
We offer living and working space with the best conditions for you to thrive in your work. To be clear, we do not offer you work. We sometimes offer workshops and activities that can be helpful to your work. You can also share with the other colivers.
You are very welcome to bring your friends and family in the space. Please have them follow the same rules as us in the coliving.
For overnight visits, please discuss the situation with the community leader in place. It’s possible only if you have a double room with a private bathroom for hygiene reasons. It’s possible to occasionally welcome a trusted date. For security reasons and in respect of the group level of comfort, never invite a person you just met overnight in the house.
Noco has 16 bedrooms and you can expect to live with 14 to 20 people in the house as we welcome couples in the double room.
Nico has 10 bedrooms at the moment and you can expect to live with 9 - 11 people in the house.
Because of the application process, we are limited to the community of digital nomads and people with remote work. Be ready to meet people from various ethnicity, age and sexual orientation. In general, half of them could be Canadian and the other half foreigners.
Note that we not only get programmers, actually only a few of them! We get people from various fields, marketing, artists, finance, real estate, business coaches, fintech, medtech, edtech, everytech! ;)
Only if you have a business project, seriously want to get inspiration to become a digital nomad, or if you have any other relevant reason to join. Otherwise, we encourage you to look into one of the many options available for student housing in town.
We have a Whatsapp group for the community as well as a Discord server for the colivers in the house.
The community is usually very entrepreneurial and will organize activities themselves, so they are very diverse, depending on the group’s interest. We usually have lots of people going to festivals, comedy, improv and music shows, restaurants, movies… Hikes, bike rides and weekend field trips to Quebec city, Ottawa and Toronto have been very popular, and we will occasionally have a bigger group that would be interested in climbing, skiing, circus/acro-yoga training, or swimming together.
Professional cleaning weekly in the common areas. In the meantime, people need to keep the common spaces clean. When you sign up with a group-usage of the kitchen, it means that you accept to clean it and leave it as cleaned after you arrive.
We ask dishes to be done, dried and put away immediately, counters and sink wiped, etc. We are proud to be one of the cleanest coliving kitchens people have seen!
Montreal is a destination with a varied climate. Temperatures are regularly negative during the winter (down to -30 Celsius) while the summer promises great outdoor activities in T-shirts (under a hot and humid 30 Celsius). Autumn and spring have cool, but pleasant temperatures. Snow, rain, clouds, sun: all types of weather are possible in the city and can be observed depending on the period of the year. The months of June to September are more pleasant and sunny, and the temperature is milder in October. We appreciate the change of colors and the freshness that autumn brings to the city. Snow begins to accumulate on the ground in December, while January and February are particularly cold, but appreciated for their winter sports.
Although Montreal is one of Canada's largest cities, its crime rate is one of the lowest in the country. Overall, staying safe in Montreal is as simple as taking the usual travel safety precautions: be aware of your surroundings, be polite and respectful of others, and know who to contact in case of emergency. It's also a good idea to keep up with local and national news.
The airport: I like to use an Uber from the airport since there is free Wi-Fi there. You can also take the 737 public bus that will bring you to Berri metro station.
For Noco:
You can then use the same ticket to take the metro and move 2 stations up to Papineau. We are 6 minutes walk from that station.
For Nico:
You can then use the same ticket to take the metro and move 5 stations up to Joliette. We are 2 minutes walk from that station.
Absolutely not. Every commodity is walking distance and the metro is a 6 minute walk and will bring you at most interesting points. If you need to bring a car, there is free parking in the streets but reading the signs, all in French to understand how it functions can be a challenge. As we are downtown, weekday parking can be difficult, but weekend parking is easy.
Our main language in the house is English but you’ll be able to practice French as you interact with more members from our friendly community.
The first first step is the application, which only takes 5 minutes.
Within 48 hours we will send you a link to book a 30 min meeting. You can use this time to ask question and we will evaluate if we are a good match
If we are a good match, we will be sending you the payment information. As soon as the first month is paid, you are booked for the requested period. You have 48 hours to pay, otherwise you must email us to make sure the selected room is available.
The summer is usually almost fully booked out 5 months in advance, but we can put you on a waiting list in case of a cancellation. There is more flexibility in the winter, but note that some room categories are popular and booked out months in advance. Book early if you want to have more choices.
Monthly, at your anniversary date, using Interac or wire transfer. For international transfer, we use the application Wise (we use the referral money for extra community gear/food ;) Rent can be paid by credit card, but there is a 3% fee added.
Yes, if available, colivers are prioritized. We often see a coliver being successful, growing their business and requesting a better room. If there is a drop in revenue, we can also give you a room in a cheaper category.
A room change fee of 50$ might apply
Sometimes plans change. We get it. Cancellations made 30 days or more in advance of the arrival date will receive a 50% refund. We do not offer refunds for cancellations within 30 days of the arrival date.
You are still connected with the coliving through the NoCo community group!
